It’s important that we make peace with those parts of ourselves that we call negative or bad, because they are still part of us. This shadow side is part of being human, and we must welcome it for it has lessons to teach us. We don’t have to deny our shadow side. We must embrace it as much as we embrace our divinity, for in embracing the duality we become whole.
We can only see light in the darkness. If there was only light, we wouldn’t recognize it as such without the darkness to compare it to. When we seek the light, we do it because of the darkness.
But what if it’s so dark we can’t see the light? There is a light within that we don’t acknowledge when we’re lost in the darkness. When we see the light, we can feel and make peace with it.
How do we find that light within? By turning on a switch of course. The switch can be reading a book, hearing a speaker, meditating, seeing beauty in nature. Remember, all you need is a spark to ignite a flame.
This is why there is always hope. Source/God is waiting for us to “reach out in the darkness,” as the old 60s song by Friend & Lover says. We only have to be open to receive, to ask for help out of the darkness, and Source/God will give us the switch.
And once the light enters, there is no going back unless we choose to flick that switch off and go back to the darkness. That is our choice.
But here’s the thing, it will be easier to return to the light once we turn on the switch the first time. Any time we do return to the darkness, it only helps us remember why we like the light so much better.
Each time we go back, it gets easier and easier to turn on that switch, and, sooner or later, we get so used to being in the light, we have no need to go back to the dark.
