Do you remember as a child dreaming at night of conquering evil and making the world a better place? You could be anything you wanted to be in your dreams. No one could tell you otherwise because your aspirations were your own.
Then, you grew up. Your hopes were suppressed.
Let’s say your parents put you down. They told you that you weren’t smart enough, tall enough, or attractive enough. You believed them because you looked up to them.
Guess what—they got it wrong. You are so much stronger than they realize.
Here’s an example my sister told me about:
A young man’s parents told him he would amount to nothing. He heard it so often that he believed it. His grades were poor. He barely graduated from high school. One day he decided that he wanted to go to college, so he took the SATs, a standardized exam used in the US for college acceptance.
To his surprise, he earned really high marks! He went to college and created inventions to help people. He did amazingly well. A few years later the college board contacted him. They told him that they had made a mistake marking the test, and he had actually done poorly on his SATs.
Then why did he do really well at college? Why was he able to invent things that improved the lives of others?
In a word: belief.
He changed the negative recording installed inside his head, and you can do the same.
Replace your recording with words that lift you up. How do you do that? It starts with awareness.
What plays over and over in your mind all day long? Whenever a negative thought enters your mind say, “Next!”
Imagine if you could press reset. Why not?! You have the power to create the life you desire. It does not need to be complicated. It just takes a bit of practice and persistence.
If you had a bad day, then reframe your day the way you wanted it to be. You will sleep better.
Just press reset. Your life is about to get better.
