The full moon, high in the clear red sky, surrounded by stars glistening in the pink aurora, reflected as a patina of pastel sparkles dancing amid the ripples on the lake. She lay there semi-submerged, soul searching.
She had felt sure her instincts were right, moving here to the forest and the lake, even if for a short time. Had her father been right all along, was it all just futile and pointless? Was this how it had to be?
She had ached for this solitude, this never-quite-attained stillness, but now that she was here it was suffocating. She slowed her breath; wasn’t she supposed to feel alive? Why did she still feel unbalanced? This moon, by its very nature, implied completeness, healing, and a time to move on. That’s what they had promised: The ALL Knowing.
They said she would be cleansed of the things that clung to her. They said the hurtful things unseen within, the menace that would not be silenced, would be gone forever.
They said that the all-powerful orb of the heavens would strip her of all the glutinous baggage that she carried that wasn’t part of her true story, that she would feel restored to the purest essence of her being.
They said, “You will be born again—you will rise from the Luna waters rebirthed as who you are destined to be. It just requires your trust; there is nothing you need to do.”
Right on cue, the menace declared “What absolute tosh.”
She pushed him away mentally and continued to surrender, floating in the cool waters, awaiting this miraculous, yet seemingly illusive, transformation. She lay there for endless minutes, minutes that felt like hours, in the milky pink waters with their random sparkles. The night sky deepening in intensity, the moon appearing to mock her from its lofty position.
She focused once more, returning to her breath, the only thing The ALL Knowing had instructed her to do. Just trust and breathe they had said. All that happened was she felt even more uncertain than she had when she first parted with the money for this rebirthing celestial ceremony.
Perhaps it was lunacy to trust in the proclamations of The ALL Knowing.
She really did believe, in the purest part of her heart, that the messages shared with her from the ancestors should be celebrated and shared so they could be used to enrich the truth of who we are.
And, more importantly, to raise vibration and consciousness to lift us above the mundane baloney that was spoon fed to the masses as a method of control to a place of complete truth and higher purpose.
She prepared to leave the water, her spirits as dampened as her hair. She stopped for a moment, blinking at her hands. They shimmered, as if they were dusted in luminescent white crystals. She watched silently and felt a profound coolness spread through her in layers.
There was a subtle shift she could not label. It seeped through her, radiating out from her core, from her heart and the very essence of her being. Everything around her was displayed in ultra-high-definition. Clearer, brighter, more colorful than when she had first entered the lake.
She felt herself relax, the tenseness and frustrations evaporated away to nothingness. Her senses seemed to magnify. The water, no longer cool on her skin, felt like the finest silk. She felt safe, cocooned, protected from harm.
She could smell the scent of the midnight jasmine on the other side of the lake. She raised her gaze skyward, and she could have sworn there were a million new stars in the heavens now.
The hoot of the tawny owls deep in conversation with each other in the woods of birch and oak way off in the distance reached her ears, and she understood every word. The spirit of the woods, of the trees themselves, spoke to her from a sacred place deep within.
Where previously there had been confusion, clarity arrived. Her hurt and anger replaced by a deep peace. All doubt replaced by absolute certainty; her fears blinked into non-existence. Unconditional love enveloped her, and she felt more alive than ever before.
She understood now—this was her transformation. The innate wisdom infusing her whole being, the creation within the creator, a connection to all-that-is. There to be seen so clearly and experienced. To be celebrated and enjoyed. She had become at one with a place of ALL Knowing. She felt its truth as naturally as her in and out breath.
Of course, they had been right. How could she have doubted The ALL Knowing? She had arrived; she was home within her very own soul.
