Why We Chose Colombia

A Journey Through Colombia’s Living Jungle

Following the Sacred Magdalena — from Barranquilla to Cartagena

Ahoy, Matey!

Ever since I first saw the movie, Romancing the Stone, I’ve dreamed of exploring Colombia — that lush, mystical land of emerald hills, vibrant music, and stories shared by the jungle. Now that dream is about to come true… and you’re invited to join me and my brother, Andy!

In May 2026, we’ll embark on an extraordinary TUT WOW (Wonders of the World) Tour aboard an AMA Waterways luxury river ship, chartered exclusively for TUTTERS — just 50 passengers. This is no ordinary cruise. It’s a river expedition through Colombia’s rainforest and wetlands — a voyage through time and nature along the legendary Magdalena River.

Traveling with “Globe TUTTERS” is pure inspiration — like-minded, metaphysically versed life adventurers — nothing compares! We’ll spend eight amazing days together, cruising the river and jamming on the nature of life, dreams, and happiness. I do everything with the group, and I’m always available for private chats.

We’ll encounter howler monkeys, caimans, iguanas, pink river dolphins, and a dazzling parade of tropical birds — Colombia has more bird species than anywhere else on Earth! The river winds through rainforests and rolling jungle hills, wrapping us in a living symphony of nature’s sounds and colors.

Jungle by day, soul connections by night. This will be a cultural and natural immersion, with guided excursions into local communities, birding sanctuaries, and nature reserves. Plus, there will be daily TUT Talks (about an hour each) where Andy and I riff on the nature of reality and our power to command life’s elements. Then each evening, we’ll return to our floating boutique hotel — to dine, laugh, share stories, and toast to the magic of life.

Pack your sense of wonder, your dreams, and your tropical attire, and together we’ll journey along the same river that has inspired poets, explorers, and dreamers for centuries. This isn’t just another trip — it will be a spiritual adventure through the beating heart of the tropics: pure magic wrapped in luxury.

Jungle love,

P.S. No one returns home from our WOW Tours as the same person they were before, and this one will be no exception! From the first day, new friendships are made, and by the last, it’s like saying goodbye to family — with laughter, hugs, and even a few tears.

DAY 4
TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2026

PORT-OF-CALL: SANTA CRUZ DE MOMPOX

Enjoy breakfast at leisure in the ship’s restaurant before exploring the historically preserved port of Santa Cruz de Mompox.

A town frozen in time, Mompox embodies the appearance of what many villages looked like during colonial times. Founded in 1540, this remote village became an important Spanish trading post. Some Spaniards found Mompox to be a haven for keeping gold and other treasure protected from the pirates that pillaged coastal cities like Cartagena, and with this precious metal and the work of skilled artisans from Spain came beautifully crafted artifacts. Since then, the town has become famous for its incredible filigree jewelry.

Choose to spend the morning or afternoon on a historic walking tour with a tuk-tuk ride, create a handcrafted piece of Filigree during a workshop, or journey through the beautiful wetlands with biodiverse birdwatching opportunities.

Lunch will be served on board the AmaMagdalena, however feel free to stroll through the colonial streets to enjoy lunch on your own at one of the charming restaurants serving delicious local delights.

Join the group for a TUT Talk prior to dinner in the ship’s Main Restaurant.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY 5
WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 2026

PORT-OF-CALL: SANTA BARBARA DE PINTO

We set sail for Santa Barbara de Pinto this morning. Linger over coffee, and the scenic river views during breakfast then join the group for a TUT Talk.

Once we dock in Santa Barbara de Pinto you may choose from a guided hike through the lush landscape or an engaging tour of the town that includes learning the traditional craft of weaving fish nets and watching skilled artisans hand roll tobacco. You will also visit historic landmarks, and shop for intricate handmade wares crafted by local townspeople while delighting in the pastel-toned Spanish architecture throughout the town.

Later in the day, members of the community parade to the port and showcase their traditions with authentic music, dance, and celebration. The festivities continue with an exquisite dinner in the Main Restaurant.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Overnight on board the AmaMagdalena

DAY 6
THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2026

PORT-OF-CALL: CALAMAR TO MAHATES

We wake to find ourselves in the port town of Calamar.

Start the day with a hearty breakfast in the Main Restaurant and then board a paola (a bicycle taxi for two) for a scenic ride along the Malecon to the House of Culture. This vibrant community hub offers insight into the authentic spirit of this off-the-beaten-path Colombian town located on the Magdalena River.

Lunch will be served upon our return to the ship and we set sail for the Mahates, our gateway to the town of Palenque, the first “free town” in the Americas. Founded by those who fled a life of slavery during colonial times, the spirit and appearance of this town has been preserved through time. In 1713, the Spanish crown issued a Royal Decree that officially freed the people of Palenque from slavery.

Immerse yourself in the town’s deeply rooted culture and traditions, from symbolic hairstyles to ancestral medicine, which are so distinct that UNESCO declared Palenque to be a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. You will also visit a local home during this excursion. An important piece of Palenque’s heritage is the music and rhythmic style that was developed in this city, which you will enjoy during a special that brings the town’s spirit to life.

Take a moment to relax in the lounge before dinner in the ship’s Main Restaurant.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Overnight on board the AmaMagdalena

DAY 7
FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2026

PORT-OF-CALL: CARTAGENA

Enjoy another leisurely breakfast in the ship’s restaurant, then delight in the beautiful coastal city of Cartagena.

Many Spaniards flocked to this location when they heard tales of gold found in the tombs of indigenous leaders, expanding this small port into a thriving city. Take a morning tour of the city, where you may witness iconic landmarks such as the Catedral de Cartagena or the stone walls built to protect the city from the plundering of pirates.

In the afternoon, witness the incredible UNESCO-designated San Felipe Castle, the fortress that defended Cartagena from French and British attacks. You will also enjoy a tour through the breathtaking Getsemaní neighborhood. With the vibrant colors of the homes and street art as well as the mouthwatering local delicacies that can be found throughout the area, this historic neighborhood will delight all your senses.

After today’s adventures, join Mike for a TUT Talk and a Farewell Dinner back on board the AmaMagdalena.

The group will be flying on American Airlines #927 to Barranquilla (airport code is BAQ), Colombia and arrives at 2:25 p.m. If you would like to fly on the group flight from Miami, please indicate so on the Registration Form.

Please Note: If you are planning to fly with the group to Colombia and would like assistance booking your flight from your home city airport to Miami, please contact BenchMark Incentives.

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the group flight will depart Cartegena (CTG), Colombia at 1:55 p.m. on American Airlines #1144 and will arrive back in Miami at 5:55 p.m. Connecting flights from Miami to your home city airport will be the same day.

We recommend transferring to the Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) at least four (4) hours prior to your scheduled flight time for a relaxed disembarkation, including getting through customs and travel to the airport.

Please note that this trip has limited availability, and reservations will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations must be made through the TUT website.

How many people do you expect to attend?

Group sizes typically range from 50-100 people, but there’s no limit either way. Always, the right people show up for each trip!

What is suggested cruise attire?

Comfort is the name of the game. Colombia is a hot and humid country so lightweight, easy-care clothing is recommended.  Long sleeved UV protective shirts and pants will offer continuous protection from the sun and mosquitos.

How can I find a roommate?

When you register for the trip, there’s a button to click if you’d like us to find you a roommate. We will then do our utmost to pair you with another traveler who has also requested a roommate.

Do I need travel insurance?

BenchMark Incentives strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance* before any TUT trip! Travel insurance offers travelers coverage for unforeseen problems, from a cancelled flight to a serious illness—or in rare cases, even an act of terrorism or the financial default of a travel supplier. If you miss a travel connection, even for reasons beyond your control, you are NOT necessarily protected from financial loss unless you have travel insurance. For example, if you encounter mechanical problems, flight delays, or inclement weather that causes you to miss connections, the airline carrier might re-book you, although in many cases (such as bad weather) it is NOT guaranteed (in which case you may either have to purchase an entirely new round-trip ticket or forego the entire prepaid trip without any reimbursement). Travel insurance can cover new flights or provide trip cancellation coverage (for a covered loss), as well as emergency medical expenses and medical transportation.

Travel insurance also provides 24 hour "911" emergency travel service, in case a traveler has to change a flight or a hotel room, in addition to assistance with emergency cash transfers, lost baggage, and pre-trip consultation services (travel advisories, passport requirements, inoculation information, etc.).

HOW TO PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE:

You can obtain travel insurance from Travel Guard International. To view the various policies offered, log onto Travel Guard Insurance. You will have two options to purchase travel insurance: 1.) US and Canadian residents may call Travel Guard directly at 1-800- 826-1300. In this case you may be asked for a travel agent code. Please give Travel Guard the code 22735731 as this code will identify your booking with BenchMark Incentives, Inc. 2.) Visit Travel Guard’s website at Travel Guard Insurance to process the insurance yourself. Please be sure to read all policy information thoroughly and note that if you have a pre-existing condition you must apply for the insurance within 14 days of the trip deposit date.

  • Please note that Travel Guard insurance is only available to U.S. and Canadian residents at this time. If you live elsewhere, please check for such coverage within your home country from independent providers.
What can I expect from attending a WOW TOUR?

This is an opportunity for adventurers, like-minded thinkers from around the world, to come together and share the experience of a lifetime. There will be daily workshops, group excursions, free time to explore on your own, and time to connect with Mike Dooley and his brother, Andy, one-on-one.

How much free time will I have?

Each day, there will be time for you to spend however you like. Some days you will have free time in-between excursions and workshops, and other days you will have the entire morning or afternoon to relax or explore on your own.

Can I bring my children and/or spouse?

Yes! We would love for your spouse and/or children to join us, however, the minimum age for children joining our adventures is 18 years-old.

Are there scholarships? OR can I trade my services in exchange for going on the trip?

We don’t have any scholarships available for WOW Tours at this time, nor are we accepting an exchange of services. The only way to attend is to register.

How can I learn more about Mike’s philosophies ahead of time?

You can read all about Mike and TUT here. And check-out Mike’s featured videos and interviews.
