We often think of hygiene in regard to our physical body, such as washing our hands, brushing our teeth, showering, and so on. Energetic hygiene is also a necessity in order to function well, since we are spiritual beings having a human life experience in physical form.
I’m sharing 7 tips to assist you practice good energetic hygiene in order to stay healthy—physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically.
1. Ground Your Energy
Grounding your energy keeps you present and in the moment. It completes the energy circuit and anchors your energy to the earth below. Keeping firmly planted energetically helps prevent feelings of fuzziness or spaciness that can often disperse your personal energy.
To ground your energy, visualize energy passing from the Root chakra to the center of the Earth or roots sprouting from the bottom of your feet.
Staying hydrated, going barefoot, gently stomping your feet a few times, and walking outside in the grass or on the pavement are also ways to ground your energy. Grounding crystals, such as hematite, black tourmaline, jet, obsidian, selenite and smoky quartz work well, too.
2. Center Your Energy
Centering your energy involves attaining and maintaining the peace within.
To center your energy, visualize a white ball of light at your core in the abdominal area, which is the Solar Plexus chakra. Then take a few conscious breaths while breathing in the energies of peace, love, ease, and balance.
When your energy is centered, you have the ability to affect the energy that surrounds you rather than allowing that energy to affect you. This helps you become more responsive rather than reactive to external circumstances.
3. Clear and Balance Your Chakras
Clearing and balancing your energy centers will dissolve the energetic debris and revitalize your energy. As you become more adept at visualizing the chakras and their associated colors, you can do this very efficiently.
Begin with the red Root chakra, move upwards to the orange Sacral chakra, up to the yellow Solar Plexus chakra, then to the green Heart chakra. Continuing upwards to the blue Throat chakra, up to the purple Third Eye chakra, and, finally, you are at the white Crown chakra.
Visualize each one of these chakras as their respective vibrant color, cleared, healthy, and balanced.
4. Clear Your Aura
Showering or taking an Epsom salt bath will assist with clearing your auric field.
Outlining your body with the smoke of burning sage or incense is another technique. Auric clearing can also be accomplished by outlining the physical body with activated tuning forks.
Furthermore, dry washing can be done by holding your hands a few inches above the physical body. While moving your hands in a washing or sweeping motion, visualize eliminating the stagnant energy from the auric field.
5. Cut Energetic Cords
The intention of cord cutting is to release the heavier, lower vibrational energy that may accumulate between you and those you engage with, especially when the interaction is less than pleasant. With cord cutting, the intent is to clear the energies of fear, worry, doubt, lack, anger, frustration, regret, guilt, shame, and so on.
The process is simple, and it’s energetically healthy to periodically remove these lower vibrational cords by saying, “I cut cords to anyone and anything that no longer serves me in a positive, healthy, and balanced way,” while either doing a swiping, cutting, or chopping motion in front of the Solar Plexus chakra.
Additionally, you may envision a cord being unplugged or disconnected rather than being cut.
6. Clear Physical Space
Clearing the physical clutter from your home and workplace is equally important. Discarding, donating, or selling unused items will instantaneously shift the energy.
In addition to removing the physical clutter, setting the intention to clear the area energetically can be achieved by letting sunlight in, playing uplifting music, lighting a candle, burning incense, saging the room, or diffusing essential oils. Recognizing that emotions can linger, these intentional actions will shift the energy very quickly.
Subsequently, choosing personal decor that fits your personality will lighten and brighten the space.
7. Clear Digital Space
Digital devices, such as phones, tablets, and computers, retain emotional and energetic history. Periodically deleting texts, emails, photos, and even contacts will clear energy. Unsubscribing from mailing lists that no longer resonate will liberate you.
Additionally, organizing pictures and emails into labeled folders will help you access information more easily. Social media platforms can be enjoyable until they become a distraction or energy drain.
Rather than feeling overwhelmed, you can take control of your digital space.
Each one of us can practice good energetic hygiene by clearing our chakras and aura regularly, as well as keeping our energy centered and grounded. Practicing good energetic hygiene along with our regular hygiene habits will keep us balanced, healthy, and well.
