Have you noticed that no matter how hard we try, we just can’t make our long-term plans work any longer? It used to be that if we just kept trying harder and harder, eventually we could make something happen.
But less and less of life works that way any more. Rather than making a plan and working it hard, we’re being guided to set intentions and ask for guidance about the next step or two toward those intentions.
And, until that guidance arrives, nothing we do toward those intentions works very well, if at all.
The End of “Making Things Work”
Yes, the age of “making things work” is over. Now, this takes a lot of courage to write, given that I’ve spent so many years as a coach. Coaches are supposed to be all about encouraging people to take action.
Waiting for the guidance to appear? Allowing life to unfold as it will? To many, that might seem like standing still.
Yet, if we remain still long enough, we can see that this approach is not about not taking action. Instead it’s about staying present – very present – to all levels of our being and knowing.
Staying Present is Conscious Action
Staying present at all levels is a conscious action. And, it allows us to be in this present moment – fully.
It puts our focus here, right now. We have an eye toward the future, yet we are not overlooking what’s happening now because we’re too busy focusing on some far off goal.
Becoming and remaining present allows our souls to come in to us more fully. And that’s where the guidance about what to do comes from – our souls.
Our Souls Want to Co-Create Our Lives
Our souls want to live in us and through us. That’s why they are creating the conditions that require us to open to them.
And that’s why our souls are driving this shift in our human experience. They want to create our lives with us.
They want to co-create our lives, and the rest of the world.
It’s almost as if our souls have conspired. They are not letting those long-term plans work like they did because they want us to become present and still long enough that they can come into us more fully.
Meditating, deep breathing, journaling, accessing our Akashic Records – these are just some of the things we can do to connect with our souls and become deeply present. More of us are doing these things, and more of us are in action in this way.
As the author D. L. Doctorow is quoted as saying, “It’s like driving at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.”
