I’m often flattered to be asked what my daily process is when writing the Notes from the Universe.
Here’s my “secret:”
First: I visualize the feeling I’m after: the end result.
I know now, after having done this for years, what it feels like when I think I’ve written a really excellent Note. I pump my fist in the air, yelp a few “Whooo-whoooo’s!” and often declare something to the effect of, “Oh, my God! I love this job. I can’t believe I’m doing this. I get to laugh before anyone else!” usually still laughing at whatever I just hammered out.
Being so familiar with this emotional feeling, and knowing that it’s this feeling of having written really well that I want (which implies I have), I work the process backwards. I begin with the desired end result in mind. When I visualize, I imagine feeling this same joy, pumping my fists in the air and whoo-hooo’ing, knowing that the only way I can experience this on the “plane of manifestations,” physically, is if I write well! This is what summons the magic! The creativity! The bright ideas! I then meet this magic and these ideas when I follow the next step.
Second: I start from where I am, taking action.
I start writing whatever comes to mind, writing anything if I have to. Sometimes it’s gibberish, sometimes it’s nonsense, and I rarely have any idea where it’s going to go, but by taking action after having programmed the end result with my emotional visualization, eventually, and it usually takes an hour or longer, I manifest the very feelings I first put out there, only this time, it’s for having written well.
This one-two approach is how to bring about anything in time and space!
