I keep getting the message from my guides that right now, for me, being is much more important than doing. They tell me that it actually matters less what I do right now, and more that I am present in the doing.
This is a challenging message to receive. We all like to feel accomplished and productive. The ego mind likes to feel that our efforts are moving us forward.
We forget that there are inner processes on the level of vibration and energy that aren’t visible. They don’t require our physical action. What is needed at these times is a willingness to drop our resistance. We must trust and surrender.
At times like this, we are called to demonstrate our faith that the Universe really does have our backs.
One of the things that gets in the way for me is a feeling of guilt. If I’m puttering around, doing things that please me but aren’t directly related to work or purpose, I feel a bit ashamed. There are all those other people out there working hard, striving, doing their thing day after day. Who am I to follow the slow pace of intuitive guidance?
That’s when I need to remember that, as LOA coach Jeannette Maw likes to say, “We do things differently.” Conscious creators know that it’s not all about taking action in the outer world. Our vibration, our intentions, our desires, and our big dreams are more vital than our to-do lists.
When my two kids were young, we practiced a form of homeschooling called unschooling. The premise is that kids know how to learn, and when not interfered with they are passionate about learning. With the guidance of adult facilitators, their exploration of the world will result in them learning things in all the traditional school subjects.
This approach worked well for us—and it required a lot of trust.
That’s the type of trust I’m learning to follow as I proceed down my own path of personal growth. The things that I choose to do are less important than the cultivation of presence and being in each moment.
Dropping your resistance to being is often a scary challenge for the ego mind. It’s a big leap of faith. It’s one that, as conscious co-creators, we are uniquely suited to taking.
Because you understand that thoughts become things, you can focus on those thoughts and the associated feelings and on attuning them toward your biggest dreams. You can take baby steps and inspired actions without getting overly attached to them.
You can relax into a playful presence in your daily life, rather than the controlled chaos of rushing around to “get things done.”
The best way to lean into trusting and being, in my experience, is to foster a strong connection with the non-physical realm. When you’re able to connect within and receive wisdom in the form of intuition, you feel more assured and confident. You’re not just a human who’s flailing around trying to figure things out. You’re supported by Divine consciousness, and you know it.
That’s when you begin to truly believe that you can’t go wrong. Cultivating connection to the Universe allows you to drop in deeper and follow the trail of your delight. It keeps you going even when things feel hard, or when it feels like absolutely nothing is happening.
Have you noticed how the Universe is always encouraging and uplifting? That’s by design. Tuning in to this always-available guidance supports you along the way.
It’s your version of being an unschooling kid who reaches out to their loving parent for support in learning something new. This is your life, and you don’t have to go it alone. You have the full support of loving guides. All you need to do is look within and find that connection. Ask for guidance and listen to the answers you receive.
Then, when you wish to take action, it’s from a place of wisdom. As you knock on those doors, you’re doing it from a conscious, present, centered awareness. You truly understand that being is essential, even—perhaps especially—in the process of doing.
And that’s when things start to really get fun.
