Our lives are full of moments. For me, some of these moments are meant to be savored, and some are just meant to get through. I think of these moments as “When…” times. For example, “When you follow your dreams” and “When you think things can’t get any worse.”
I have no doubt that in addition to any Notes from the Universe that you subscribe to, what I’ll also call “the Universe” sends us additional messages, symbols, or orchestrated moments that help us to either get through difficult times or to get the confirmation that we are worthy of the wondrous ones.
Although this story is about a wondrous “When you follow your dream…” time, it came in the aftermath of a “When you think things can’t get any worse…” divorce. I believe I was being sent two messages that I needed to hear loud and clear with this trip: 1) Go for it. 2) You are worthy.
I hope that in my sharing of one of these moments, you are reassured that your Spirit (i.e. Soul or Universe) knows what to do and what you need. You just need to pay attention.
When you follow your dreams…know that you are worthy.
Taking the first step to following a dream can be scary. But after the first step, things can fall into place for you. At least they did for me.
One of my dreams was to get close and personal with dolphins. Of course, there are all kinds of ways to do this. Mine was an Earthwatch volunteer program in Hawaii.
Here are the wondrous events that effortlessly unfolded during that trip. I believe they happened because I dared to follow one of my dreams and—just as important—I remained full of gratitude.
- During the first night of my stay in Hawaii, my ground floor room on Waikiki Beach was upgraded at no charge to a room on the top floor with an ocean view.
- The taxi that came to take me from that hotel to my Earthwatch lodgings was a full-blown limousine, also at no extra charge.
- The first day of my Earthwatch orientation, I was selected for my first (and only) dolphin “kiss.” The same opportunity never happened again during my month-long stay.
- During my weekend trips to neighboring islands with no time to spare:
- A humpback whale breached in full view while I was driving along the coast of Maui to meet a friend and hike the bamboo forest. (I have a thing for whales.)
- A five-day storm lifted just in time for me to join a zodiac tour of the breathtaking Na Pali Coast.
- After driving to Volcanoes National Park only to find that the helicopter tours were on the other side of the island, I purchased the last seat available for the last helicopter tour of the day. I was placed in the only front seat next to the pilot, who made multiple passes over the active volcano so that I could take pictures. (All other helicopters took a single pass over the crater and were gone.)
- Tickets to THE New Year’s Eve event of Waikiki Beach became available the minute I walked up to the ticket booth and overheard the phone call for a last-minute cancellation.
Amazingly unbelievable things also fell into place leading up to and during my dream trip to New Zealand. One important-to-note fact: I mowed lawns for a living at the time. That story could fill an entire book.
I’ve also received symbols or messages to help let me know when I was heading for what I considered to be a disaster, ready or not. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), most of these were in hindsight.
Some examples of these “When…” times include:
- When you think things can’t get any worse and they do
- When you think you’ve reached your limit
- When you lose a loved one
- When you don’t know whether to laugh or cry
- When you think your situation is someone else’s fault
If you’re going through any of these more difficult “When …” times at the moment, look for signs, symbols, or messages to help you get through them, learn from them, or adjust your thoughts. But always remember that even in the most trying times, there is always something to be grateful for.
Be sure to give thanks for that so you can attract more of the same. Trust me. Even though it’s REALLY difficult to do, it’s gotten me out of more than one “When things can’t get any worse…” moment in my life. I believe it can do the same for you.
