One of the most amazing things I’ve discovered and lived through is that the overwhelming fear you catch your breath on, the deepest pain hidden in your gut, or the most devastating sadness that sneaks out through your eyes can be given so many layers of compassion and unconditional love by you that it can be the phenomenal gift which awakens your magic.
You can make it something to honor and celebrate yourself for. You can become the love of your life! And you don’t have to wait until all the fear or sadness is gone. You can use it in your journey to being the love of your own life. I am not saying this is easy—being courageous never is—but I promise this: you are worth it.
I know this is true because I have done it. After a devasting divorce, I was broken open, my jagged pieces splayed out all around me. I flopped around in uncertainty and fear of the new. But I trusted that whatever was coming had to be better than what I was living.
I thought I was lost in grief and anger but underneath was hope. Being so open, I discovered I wasn’t simply screaming Kelly Clarkson songs as I drove down the highway—I was free. I had empowered myself to peel. As I uncovered my layers and mended myself, I was alive to the pouring of life’s juiciest yumminess.
I didn’t have to tip toe around my existence any longer. Here I was glorious vastness. Under and through it all, I slowly reclaimed the sparkly, strong, creative, audacious, curvy, sexual, queer femme realness that was me.
Because of this, I believe in humanifestation (humans making their dreams exist into their reality). And I am all for YUM (Your Unique Magic)! We must know so fiercely and with so much dedication that our best life is achievable that it must transpire!
Find that sparkle inside you. What makes you glow from within? What are you thinking about when you have a beaming smile come across your face? What is the secret life desire you keep hidden? Bring it to the surface.
Every day spend at least 5 minutes acting like it already exists. When you want to do more than think about it, make a list of what you’re going to do every day to create it. Spend time every day towards it. Don’t give up on yourself! It can be 1 minute, 8 hours, or something in between—you will see your life change.
Sharing your secret life desire with a trusted person in your life can make it happen even faster. You are speaking it to the Universe. Believe, believe, believe! I have, and it works.
I told myself I would be walking on the Camino de Santiago on my 39th birthday. I told friends, too. I had no idea how I would afford the trip, be in shape enough to walk hundreds of miles, or be able to take the time off, but it all happened. On my 39th birthday, I was in Leon, Spain, walking the Camino de Santiago.
I now have countless examples of my humanifestations, but the point is for you to know the possibilities are endless and attainable. Know that you are loved; love is at the core of us all. Magic is happening. Accept it and yourself along with the angst, curiosities, miraculous mistakes, and uncompromising positivity. We got this!
