For years, I believed I could solve anything with effort. If something wasn’t working in my life or business, my instinct was simple: work harder, think harder, push further. Like many ambitious women, I followed the formula that seemed to define success everywhere I looked: Work tirelessly. Prove your value. Push through resistance. Eventually the results will come.
And for a while, that formula appeared to work.
I was disciplined, committed, and deeply invested in building something meaningful. I studied counselling, psychotherapy, NLP, business strategy, leadership, and personal development. I did everything I believed success required.
From the outside, it looked like determination. From the inside, it often felt like carrying the weight of everything alone. Still, I believed the answer was always more effort. Until life interrupted that belief… when the business I had built collapsed almost overnight.
A partnership I trusted deeply turned manipulative and destructive, and something I had spent years creating disappeared far faster than I could comprehend.
For me, this experience wasn’t just the loss of a business; it was the loss of my identity—and any sense of certainty. I had done everything “right.” I had worked relentlessly. Yet the structure I had built my future on suddenly vanished.
For a while, I felt as though the ground beneath me had disappeared. And then one evening, in the quiet of that uncertainty, a question appeared in my mind, a question that would change everything: What would I actually do if I didn’t care what other people thought of me?
And almost immediately another thought followed. What would I do if I didn’t care whether it worked or not?
In that moment, something remarkable happened—all the pressure fell away. The need to prove. The fear of judgment. The urgency to make everything succeed.
In that brief silence, something deeper had space to speak. And suddenly I knew the answer. I would stop trying to force success through pressure and proving. Instead, I would allow something far more powerful to lead: intuition, truth, the quiet inner knowing we all carry but often override. And then I would let strategy follow.
No, I would not abandon strategy. I would allow it to support the deeper intelligence guiding the work.
Until that moment, I had approached business the way many people do: lead with logic, push with effort, and hope the energy eventually catches up. But what if the order was wrong? What if the real shift comes when clarity and alignment lead—and strategy simply becomes the structure that brings that vision to life?
That realisation became the beginning of everything that followed.
Instead of asking “What do I need to do next?” I began asking a different question: “What is most aligned with the next version of me as a leader and change maker here?”
Sometimes the answer required courage. Sometimes it meant saying no where I previously would have said yes. Sometimes it meant trusting an idea that made no logical sense yet felt undeniably right.
And something fascinating began to happen. When decisions came from alignment rather than pressure, the entire landscape of my work began to change. The right clients started appearing. Opportunities emerged through conversations rather than force. Work that once felt exhausting began to feel meaningful again.
I remained deeply committed to what I was building, but the work felt different. It no longer came from proving my worth—it came from expressing it.And when you build from that place, growth begins to accelerate in ways that are difficult to manufacture through effort alone.
Over the following years, that shift expanded far beyond anything I could have predicted. My work reached people in more than 180 countries, I wrote the bestselling book Energetic Selling and Marketing, and thousands of clients began applying these principles in their own businesses and lives.
What started as a deeply personal turning point slowly evolved into a framework.
Over time, I came to call it Business Energetics—the understanding that business growth does not come from strategy alone, but from the relationship between inner alignment and intelligent action.
Energy and strategy. Intuition and structure. Vision and execution. When these elements work together, something powerful happens.
- Effort stops feeling like a constant uphill climb.
- Decisions become clearer.
- And growth begins to feel less like something you must chase and more like something you naturally step into.
Looking back now, losing my first business was one of the most painful experiences of my life, but it was also the moment that revealed a deeper truth about success.
The old model of endless hustle was never the full answer. The most powerful growth in business doesn’t come from working harder—it comes from becoming the person who no longer needs to prove their worth. Real expansion happens when who your becoming begins to guide what you create.
Many people are standing at that same crossroads today. They are intelligent, capable, and driven, yet something inside them is quietly whispering that pushing harder is no longer the path forward.
In my experience, life begins to change the moment we stop forcing outcomes and start listening to the deeper intelligence within us. When we shift who we believe ourselves to be, the opportunities, people, and possibilities around us begin to shift as well.
If you hear that whisper, it may not be asking you to abandon ambition. It may simply be inviting you to change the order. Let the energy lead. Let truth guide the vision. Then allow strategy to follow.
And perhaps the most powerful question we can ask ourselves is the same one that changed everything for me: What would you create if you stopped worrying about what others think, and trusted the truth inside you instead?
