Unfortunately, the Spirit of Santa Fe trip has been cancelled. While we are trending in the right direction, the slower than expected vaccine roll out and the ability to safely meet as a group within legal and moral guidelines is not possible. If you have put down a deposit or payment for this trip is will be returned to you via check.

As disappointing as this news is to deliver, we know it is the right decision and we look forward to traveling together again in the near future.

I’m excited about this adventure because, even as an American, we’re going to places I’ve read about my entire life, but have never seen… like legendary and renowned Bandelier, where Native Americans settled into the sculpted canyons and mesa tops of the Pajarito Plateau!

Every day we’ll head out from our home-base, Eldorado Hotel & Spa, on adventures like river-rafting the Rio Grande, visiting Abiquiu on the Ghost Ranch Tour, visiting scenic Chimayo, meditating at Upaya Zen Center, hiking Tent Rocks, and more.

Arrive in albuquerque or Santa Fe

SPIRIT OF SANTA FE travelers arrive at either the Albuquerque International Sunport or Santa Fe Regional Airport between 11AM and 4PM. The friendly faces of the TUT Travel Staff will greet you and assist with your transfer to Eldorado Hotel & Spa in Santa Fe. Check in with the TUT Travel staff then, join our first TUT Talk, followed by this evening’s welcome event at the hotel.

The spirit of Santa Fe

Meet us for breakfast and a TUT Talk before the day’s adventure begins.

This morning we will explore the enriching and wonderful area of Santa Fe so that we can get our bearings, acclimate to the altitude, and gain some insight on the American Southwest, its legendary history and native culture.

Lunch will be served along the way with free time in the afternoon for exploring and shopping.

DINNER AT LEISURE

Tonight SPIRIT OF SANTA FE travelers are welcome to enjoy Santa Fe’s culinary landscape on their own with the cash gift provided upon arrival. TUT Travel Staff can assist with restaurant suggestions and make reservations if needed.

Tuesday, April 27, 2021

Southwest adventures

Optional morning meditation with Andy Dooley.

After breakfast and a TUT Talk we will set out to discover various adventures in the Southwest. Lunch will either be included on your chosen tour or with a cash allowance. In the upcoming months you will be asked to choose from the following excursions:

Tent Rocks Hike (7:00 AM-12:00 PM)

Enjoy a beautiful slot canyon hike through the unique geological area known as Kasha-Kutuwe Tent Rocks. These large cone shaped rocks (“hoodoos”) hugging the steep cliffs of Peralta Canyon are a sight to be seen. The trail will meander through an arroyo with beautiful old trees dotting the landscape here and there, with the canyon walls rising up above you on either side. You’ll soon come to a narrowing of the trail where it twists and turns through the narrow slot canyon. Exiting the slot canyon, the area will open up more and you’ll get closer to some massive hoodoos. The trail starts to climb from here for a short while until you reach the mesa top, dotted with gnarled old juniper trees. Take a break and enjoy the view before heading back the way you came. The total distance is 3.1 miles, and it is a slight uphill climb for the first 3/4 mile, a flatter section through the slot canyon, and then a steeper climb for the last 1/2 mile or so to the top. Overall the trail is listed as moderate, by AllTrails.

Note: Plan to bring sunscreen, a hat, comfortable flat walking shoes with rubber soles, and sunglasses.

Abiquiu & Ghost Ranch Tour (8:00 AM-3:00 PM)

For those who love Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings, this 5-hour tour is a must! We’ll take you to the environs of Abiquiu, a picturesque region of New Mexico that captured O’Keeffe’s “White Place”, with its spectacular rock formations. You will visit Ghost Ranch where O’Keeffe had a home, marvel at the landscapes and learn about the unique history of the Genízaro who settled in this area in the mid-1700s.

Note: Plan on bringing sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Chimayo Tour (9:00 AM-3:00 PM)

Enjoy a genuine taste of the Spanish and Pueblo cultures of New Mexico and the amazing landscapes north of Santa Fe. We’ll visit the Spanish village of Chimayo with its legendary church, local arts, and chile. We’ll travel across the Rio Grande to an Indian Pueblo renowned for pottery. From a high cliff, we’ll overlook breathtaking views of the region.

Note: Plan to bring sunscreen, a hat, comfortable flat walking shoes with rubber soles, and sunglasses.

Bandelier national monument

Start the day with breakfast and a TUT Talk. After, we’re off to discover Bandelier National Monument and the mysteries and treasures from Paleoindians over 11,000 years ago to the Pueblo people of today.

Petroglyphs, dwellings carved into the soft rock cliffs, and standing masonry walls pay tribute to the early days of a culture that still survives in the surrounding communities. The Pueblo people settled in the sculpted canyons and mesa tops of the Pajarito Plateau west of Santa Fe. This amazing volcanic landscape is among the most beautiful places in the Southwest. This half-day trip to the Bandelier National Monument holds cliff dwellings and expansive ruins of old Pueblo villages dating to the 1500s. The drive to and from Bandelier is quite beautiful too. The route crosses the Rio Grande near San Ildefonso Pueblo and includes some extra stops that will amaze! Lunch is included along the way.

After spending a memorable day, enjoy the night on your own or in the company of your fellow TUT Adventurers in the world-class foodie enclave of Santa Fe.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people do you expect to attend?

Group sizes typically range from 50-100 people, but there’s no limit either way. Always, the right people show up for each trip!

What’s included in the price?

INCLUDED:

  • All transfers throughout the program (except airport transfers if not arriving or departing with times coinciding with group flight).
  • 7 nights accommodations on board Paul Gauguin for the April 6-13, 2024 sailing Papeete to Papeete.
  • Hotel Day room use on April 6th from 6:00AM-12:00PM before attending the TUT talk and group lunch at the hotel and then on to the cruise terminal. (Boarding begins at 3:00PM on Paul Gauguin)
  • All on board meals, beverages, and mini bar replenishment.
  • TUT Workshop Fee including daily meetings with Mike and Andy.
  • All transfers by deluxe vehicles. Smaller vehicles may be required for some transfers.
  • Professional English speaking escorts throughout.
  • All ship and hotel taxes, service charges and gratuities.

NOT INCLUDED:

  • Airfare into and out of LAX for those requesting airfare on group flights. If you are booking your flights to connect with the group flights, you should plan on a minimum of 3 hours of connecting time each way in LAX for immigration and customs. If you would like our assistance booking your flights to/from Los Angeles or from your home city to Tahiti on flights other than the group flights, our air agents can book those for you.
  • Transfers for independent arrival and departures not on group flight. (If your flight arrives prior to the group flight, you may meet at the airport and join the group transportation).
  • Items of a personal nature such as laundry, telephone calls, internet services, beverages when off the ship, travel insurance, etc.
What’s your refund policy?

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total trip cost is due at the time of booking. The final payment is due January 1, 2024. If final payment is not received by January 1, 2024, BenchMark Travel Services/TUT reserve the right to consider the booking as cancelled by you, and charge you any cancellation fees that may apply, unless alternative arrangements have been made. Please note that this trip has limited availability and reservations will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations must be made through the TUT website. How can I find a roommate?

When you register for the trip, there’s a button to click if you’d like us to find you a roommate. We will then do our utmost to pair you with another traveler who has also requested a roommate.

What should I pack and bring with me?

You will need to pack clothes, toiletries, necessary medicines, electronics, and anything else you’ll need for a trip lasting 9 days. Click here to see our pre-departure check-list! We also recommend you take a look at the itinerary to plan accordingly when packing.

What can I expect from attending a WOW TOUR?

This is an opportunity for adventurers, like-minded thinkers from around the world, to come together and share the experience of a lifetime. There will be daily workshops, group excursions, free time to explore on your own, and time to connect with Mike Dooley and his brother, Andy, one-on-one.

How much free time will I have?

Each day, there will be time for you to spend however you like. Some days you will have free time in-between excursions and workshops, and other days you will have the entire morning or afternoon to relax or explore on your own.

Can I bring my children and/or spouse?

Yes! We would love for your spouse and/or children to join us, however, the minimum age for children joining our adventures is 18 years-old.

Are there scholarships? OR can I trade my services in exchange for going on the trip?

We don’t have any scholarships available for WOW Tours at this time, nor are we accepting an exchange of services. The only way to attend is to register.
