New Zealand!

Jambo Fellow Adventurer!

My first visit to New Zealand was “on my way home” from Saudi Arabia… in 1986. I was on a super tight budget, slept at cramped, smelly hotels, but explored the cities and countryside by day. It was one of the most breathtaking countries I’d ever visited for its stunning diversity and sheer beauty – snow covered mountains, pristine beaches, sprawling deserts, rainforests, caves, bats, and kiwis.

I’ve been back 3 more times, each visit as special as those before it, and now, for visit #5, I’m leading a Wonders of the World {WOW} Tour!

We’ll be staying between two fabulous hotels, one on each of the famed North and South islands. Our itinerary has been masterfully tailored to locations that will reveal the very best of this majestic paradise.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ― Mark Twain

This is going to be our 28th WOW tour. We’ve already traveled to every corner of the world, in both hemispheres, yet there’s still so much more to see. And on this trip there’ll be adventure, stunning cuisine, exotic locales, inspiring talks, private one-on-one chats with me (time permitting, and it always has), breathtaking vistas, spiritual interludes with nature, and best of all, new friends from around the world.

None of us self-proclaimed "Globe TUTTERS" are into the idea of “group travel” – the whole notion speaks of compromise, routine, and boredom. Yet something magical happens when like-minded thinkers explore with open hearts and minds. As was shared by an attendee, “I’ve done group travel before, when there were few alternatives, and while I enjoyed the people, the conversations could only go so far...” Whoa, this does NOT happen on our trips! Everyone is fully versed in spiritual-ese, personal responsibility, and the power we have to live our dreams. Dreams and challenges are shared, illumination is sparked, and lives are changed. On every trip we’ve ever taken, friendships are made and kept long after we return home.

Travel, alone, is mind-expanding and invigorating, but when you add to the mix fantastic itineraries in exotic locales, great conversations, and super-cool people... NOTHING ELSE COMPARES! Obviously, I’ve been on every one of our WOW Tours, and they’ve quickly become the highlights of my year. During each trip I have this feeling, “YES!! This is it!! Life is so awesome!! I HAVE TO SPREAD THE WORD to all our fellow TUTTERS how truly incredible these adventures are.” But don’t just take my word for it, read what other attendees have said!

Many TUTTERS have joined us on multiple trips. In fact, sometimes +30% of our travelers are “repeaters.”

Be warned, however, there’s invariably sadness when it comes time to say our goodbyes, and I’m not the only one with a tear in my eye. Happily, there are no goodbyes without reunions, no endings without beginnings and new friends are now calling us to New Zealand….

Yours in the adventure,

P.S. We don’t host these trips for the small margins involved, we host them because of the FUN we have. Group sizes typically range from 50-100 people, but there’s no limit either way. Always, the right people show up for each trip!

Adventure Highlights

We've discovered that one of the best things about these trips is the candidness and connection shared by the group. This is an opportunity for adventurers, like-minded thinkers from around the world, to join together and share the experience of a lifetime. The focus of these adventures is not on Mike, but rather on OURSELVES, our group dynamic, and the adventure at hand. For us, the most important thing is to achieve a sense of comfort from day one; to learn, explore, and discover together. Mike's casual, unplugged workshops will follow suit. We'll start by following a schedule, but if we get inspired or feel pulled in other directions, so be it! Here's some of what we have to look forward to together over the course of this great adventure:

  • 9 days (7 hotel nights) in New Zealand, between Auckland and Queenstown (see more below in the itinerary).
  • Luxurious 5 star accommodations at Hotel M Social and Hotel St. Moritz (details below).
  • Daily talks with Mike and Andy Dooley about life, dreams, happiness, and the nature of reality.
  • Time for Q&A following each talk to address your specific questions, concerns, dreams, and challenges.
  • Private one-on-one time with Mike Dooley and Andy Dooley, time permitting.
  • Discover New Zealand’s ancient Maori heritage at Tamaki Makaurau – the sacred lands on the outskirts of the city.
  • A tour to ascend the dormant volcano Maungawhau (Mount Eden), which stands proudly above Auckland City.
  • An evening aboard one of Auckland’s most impressive yachts, a chartered catamaran for our group to ply the waters of Auckland Harbor.
  • A sailing trip aboard the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw across Lake Wakatipu to Walter’s Peak Country Farm for a taste of New Zealand’s country life.
  • A visit to Milford Sound, one of the most spectacular drives in the world—fiords, towering peaks, glaciers and wildlife abound!
  • Optional whitewater rafting, jet boating on the Shotover River, a lakeshore hike, or a 4WD backcountry tour!

This is just one more way we’ll take in the view!

Interesting Facts

  • New Zealand's population is just over four million, making it one of the world's least populated countries.
  • The Maori name for New Zealand is ‘Aotearoa’. It means “the land of the long white cloud.”
  • New Zealanders are also called “Kiwis” (the name of New Zealand’s native flightless bird).
  • In 1893, New Zealand became the first country to give women the right to vote.
  • Queen Elizabeth II is officially Queen of New Zealand, represented in the country by a Governor General.
  • More people live in Auckland than in the whole of the South Island.
  • When in New Zealand, you must drive on the left side of the road.
  • No part of the country is more than 79 miles from the sea.
  • Only 5% of New Zealand’s population is human—the rest are animals (and one third of the country is protected national park).
  • New Zealand has three official languages: English, Māori and New Zealand Sign Language.
  • In 2013, New Zealand legalized same-sex marriage.
  • In 2008, TripAdvisor named Milford Sound (which we will see!) the world's top travel destination.

Participate in daily workshops

One of the highlights of our trips are the daily unplugged mini-workshops (TUT Talks) with Mike and Andy Dooley about life, dreams, happiness, and the nature of reality. To help keep your thoughts organized, you’ll receive a bound "Best of My Life" Passport, for whatever journaling needs you have - notes, contacts, and deeper introspection. You may even use it to create a customized plan that will give you guidance and direction for creating consciously beyond our trip. In these TUT Talks, a few key points from Mike Dooley’s present touring material, Playing the Matrix, and from Andy Dooley’s touring material, Vibration Activation, will be shared to keep you as current as possible on their latest work.

Adventure with like-minded thinkers

Our trips are known for the friendships that are made! None of us self-proclaimed TUTTERS are into the idea of "group travel" – the whole notion speaks of compromise, routine and boredom, hardly adjectives for the life adventurers that we are! Yet something magical happens when like-minded thinkers embark on these trips. Everyone is fully versed in spiritual thinking, personal responsibility, and creating our own realities. Dreams and challenges are shared, illumination is sparked and lives are changed.

Talk one-on-one with Mike

On every trip we take, Mike is a part of the adventure in every way that you are. Whether we’re climbing a mountain, or riding a bus, or eating at a local restaurant, or passing out school supplies to children, Mike is there to facilitate and lead us in the adventure, along with his brother Andy, and our travel agent Christopher. There will be time to talk one-on-one with Mike and Andy, and there will also be time during group workshops to share and ask questions.

It’s been our tradition on these WOW TOURS to GIVE BACK to the people who call the places we visit, “Home.” We do this in a numbers of ways, including visiting orphanages, schools, reservations, refuges, or animal shelters, bringing with us supplies they may need, cash donations, and short “Mike Dooley Pep Talks”! Occasionally, we host “Mike Dooley Events” to the more affluent locals, giving 100% of our profits to local charities. To participate, there’s nothing you need to do in advance. We’ll let you know when the time arrives of (optional) ways you can be involved.

A picnic lunch will be served in a scenic area today before heading back to the city.

Tonight we will enjoy a glorious evening aboard one of Auckland’s most impressive yachts. We’ve gone ahead and chartered a catamaran for our group to ply the waters of Auckland Harbor just like America’s Cup racing Yachts (except slower and more comfortable)! If you do not sign up directly through our travel agent, BenchMark Travel Services, you cannot be considered part of the TUT group and take part in the TUT activities. Sorry!

BenchMark Travel Services strongly recommends the purchase of Travel Guard travel insurance* before any TUT trip! Travel insurance offers travelers coverage for unforeseen problems, from a cancelled flight to a serious illness—or in rare cases, even an act of terrorism or the financial default of a travel supplier. If you miss a travel connection, even for reasons beyond your control, you are NOT necessarily protected from financial loss unless you have travel insurance. For example, if you encounter mechanical problems, flight delays, or inclement weather that causes you to miss connections, the airline carrier might re-book you, although in many cases (such as bad weather) it is NOT guaranteed (in which case you may either have to purchase an entirely new round-trip ticket or forego the entire prepaid trip without any reimbursement). Travel insurance can cover new flights or provide trip cancellation coverage (for a covered loss), as well as emergency medical expenses and medical transportation. Travel insurance also provides 24 hour "911" emergency travel service, in case a traveler has to change a flight or a hotel room, in addition to assistance with emergency cash transfers, lost baggage, and pre-trip consultation services (travel advisories, passport requirements, inoculation information, etc.).

*Please note that Travel Guard insurance is only available to U.S. and Canadian residents at this time. If you live elsewhere, please check for such coverage within your home country from independent providers.

HOW TO PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE: You can obtain travel insurance from Travel Guard International. You have two options to purchase travel insurance: 1. U.S. and Canadian residents may call Travel Guard directly at 1-800-826-1300. 2. Visit Travel Guard’s website at www.travelguard.com to process the insurance yourself. In this case you will be asked for a travel agent code, please give Travel Guard the code 22735731 as this code will identify your booking with BenchMark Travel Services. Please be sure to read all policy information thoroughly.
