I'm afraid of getting
the axe at work! Q: I am in a tough situation at work; something has gone
south and there may need to be a fall guy and others are telling me that
is probably going to be me. I am using the thoughts becomes things
concept to stay focused and positive but it's
extremely challenging and I find that my preference would be to believe
what others are saying. Soon
there will be a BIG meeting, and my fate will be decided. Any
suggestions on how to reinforce my resolve so I am prepared to deal with
this with minimal anxiety? Just wondering if you had thoughts to help me
with this.
A: A couple of thoughts...
* In your mind, perhaps when visualizing, see beyond the meeting.
Better, see beyond the company. You are happy, well paid and in a stable
situation. The details aren't important, are they? You just want to have
rewarding work, doing what you love, in a secure setting. Actually, it
doesn't sound like your present employer is offering that to you, so
perhaps, a change is due.
* Don't be fooled by appearances. Your happiness, comfort and financial
safety are not dependant upon this job, but upon your overall thoughts,
beliefs and expectations, and no one can take these from you.
* Remember that from uncertainty, springs life, growth, and better things.
I'm sure you can look back at your life and see that some of the best and
happiest turning points sprang from uncertainty. Suddenly, from out of the
blue, there appeared an answer, a new relationship, a new job, a new
understanding. Right? Well today need not be any different. The Universe
is lingering near you, even now as you read these words, just looking for
the opportunity to slip something wonderful in-between the seconds. Expect
it.
