Why does it seem so hard?
Q: I hear you Mike. For at least two decades now, I have read these words and believe them to be true, but what's the catch? Why does it seem so hard? Lord knows I have plenty of thoughts about having the life I want, where I'd like to live, what type of relationships, work, having financial freedom. So what's the magic step to making the good thoughts become things? Is it only our self harming, limiting, self-doubting thoughts that so easily become things, even without any effort?
A: I think like most seekers you are thinking that the answers are complex, mysterious, and as you said "hard" to find/apply. The more we seek... the more we need to seek... and the more we think the answer is out there... the more "out there" we scour.
The answer is probably too easy for your liking... thoughts do become things. Period, end of story. But of the thousands of thoughts you think each day... what inspires them? Where do they come from? Why were they chosen for you to think them? Your beliefs. So your suggestion of studying core beliefs is a good one. Here's a head start: you believe it is hard, you believe it's mysterious, and you fear that there is more to it than just thoughts becoming things... like maybe you have a destiny, another (higher) hand is in your affairs, you must pay penance for thoughts you didn't even know you thought, and as you believe, so do you experience, and thus you WILL FIND evidence that there are mysteries that you are unaware of.
But studying beliefs while sitting at a desk is not fun, I rarely do it. Instead, just watch your thoughts, your words and your deeds all day long as you go about your affairs, to catch what you are really thinking about life. Also, as you probably already know, it will serve you to say "it's easy, it's fun, I KNOW" as often, or preferably more, than you say "it's hard, I don't know, I'm lost"... because even these statements and thoughts make a difference in your reality - A BIG DIFFERENCE.
Your test, like mine, and others who HAVE found the answers, is to start living the answers. Knowing about them isn't enough. Besides, if you're not living them, then you don't believe in them.
