If I take this job, am I settling for less?

Q: If I am doing everything I can to move myself forward from where I am with what I have, to achieve my dream, is it a huge neon sign the the Universe that I am giving up if I choose to move into a different direction and get a job? Is that backsliding? Is that not trusting? I know thoughts are things so if I think it is a huge neon sign, does it automatically become that? How do I get round this idea?

A: Thanks for the great email!

No! It is not a defeat or back peddling if you take a job. You need to do all you can to keep your dream alive, and if that means getting a job to hold you over, then it is a very positive thing. I tell many audiences that I coasted financially during my start up time, because I could afford to, and that if I hadn’t been able to afford it, I would have done “whatever” I could to get money coming in (obviously choosing something else I felt drawn to, though not insisting on what, nor aiming only for something “glamorous,” but anything I would have been able to find joy in – business/accounting planning, landscape work, irrigation repair, etc...).
