Isak Dinesen wrote, ‘When you have caught the rhythm of Africa, you find that it is the same in all her music.’ And it's not just the tribal drums, but the rhythms of the land: From the glittering beauty of Cape Town, South Africa to the vast wilderness of Kruger National Park—home of the “big five” game that roam in the bush — to Victoria Falls in Zambia, where the awesome power of one of the largest waterfalls in the world can be felt. Africa is calling. Come and get rhythm.

Mike and Andy Dooley, Life Adventurers

Fellow Adventurers, you will not even believe South Africa!! Please join me on my third visit! This video montage does not depict our planned trip, but it does hint at the fun we will have and some sights we will see in this fabulous and spectacular country!!

Important Info: Please click here for pre-departure checklist, packing tips, etc! Get to know everyone before the trip! Meet who's going, get important updates, share travel tips.

South Africa is calling!

The elephants have been herded, the migrations have begun, and our native guides have been chosen! Prepare for TUT’s boldest adventure yet… SOUTH AFRICA!

Our first trip to Africa was to Kenya in 2011, and by all accounts 31 people “had the times of their lives”! Truly, Africa exceeded all of our imaginations! Every day felt like a dreamed-up wonderland filled with surprises, new friends, and memories to last a lifetime. Now, we’re crazy excited to be returning to Africa to visit Cape Town, Kruger National Park, and Victoria Falls in Zambia – YES!

We’ll get to experience one of my favorite cities in the world… CAPE TOWN, with its bustling harbor, picture-perfect beaches, top-notch vineyards, and iconic Table Mountain (worth a google!). We’ll also visit Kruger National Park, South Africa’s most famous game-viewing destination and Africa’s second-largest reserve, spread across an impressive 2 million hectares of land where the Big 5 roam: the African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and rhinoceros. And did you know that Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world and one of the Seven Natural Wonders!?

I’ll be with the group every day, doing what you do, by your side! Whether around camp, in the lodges, or on the go, I’ll be sharing with you the best of what I teach to audiences around the world, including material from my current world tour, "Playing the Matrix."

Please join myself and other fearless adventurers on this expedition to Africa. Our WOW tours are often described by TUTTERs as life changing, and I know I’m not the only one who feels sadness when it comes time to say farewell. Happily, there are no goodbyes without reunions, no endings without new beginnings, and there’s still time left to join us on the African Safari you’ve perhaps always dreamed of taking!

Yours in the adventure,

Mike Dooley

WHAT TUTTERS ARE SAYING

Hear from the TUTTERS who have traveled with us why our trips are truly life-changing!

South Africa Highlights

Cape Town

Sandwiched between the slopes of the iconic Table Mountain (voted one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature) and the glistening sapphire waters of Table Bay, the exceptionally scenic city of Cape Town is in a class of its own. With its bustling harbor, picture-perfect beaches, top-notch vineyards, and its mountainous surroundings brimming with diverse flora and fauna, it’s easy to see why it is repeatedly ranked among the most beautiful cities in the world. Known as the ‘Mother City’ because it was the first city to emerge in South Africa, it is now a complex, multicultural city with a fascinating history, a wealth of cultural attractions, heritage sites, creativity and haute cuisine.

Kruger Private Reserves

South Africa is blessed with more than its fair share of the world's wildlife and beautiful places. Undoubtedly South Africa’s most iconic game-viewing destination and Africa’s second-largest reserve is Kruger National Park. Spread across an impressive 2 million hectares of land in the far north-eastern corner of the country these exclusive, conservation-driven reserves deliver the best Big 5 (the African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and rhinoceros) game viewing in Africa with the advantages of smaller, hosted accommodations and game drives. A trip to the Kruger is an unforgettable and potentially life changing experience.

Livingstone (Victoria Falls)

Livingstone is considered the gateway between Central and Southern Africa. Named after Scottish explorer Dr. David Livingstone, Livingstone’s culture and history is intriguing – as is evidenced by the arts and craft producers, museums, colonial architecture, traditional village life, local food and the general African lifestyle. Located only minutes away from Livingstone is one of the original Seven Natural Wonders and a World Heritage Site, "Victoria Falls." Situated almost halfway along the Zambezi River and straddling two countries, Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world – thanks to the sheer volume of water cascading over its crags every minute. Known locally as ‘The Smoke that Thunders,’ this spectacle is an ideal place to combine game viewing and water sports. There is excellent fishing, a terrifying bungee jump, and arguably the best commercial white water rafting in the world.

Participate in daily workshops

One of the highlights of our trips are the daily unplugged mini-workshops with Mike Dooley and TUTTERS about life, dreams, happiness, and the nature of reality. In addition to these mini-workshops, you’ll receive a professionally bound "Best of My Life" Passport! Your Passport will culminate in your creation of a customized Manifestation Action Plan (MAP) that will give you guidance and direction for creating consciously beyond our trip. You'll also learn the key points from Mike Dooley’s present touring material, Playing the Matrix, and from Andy Dooley’s touring material, Vibration Activation.

Adventure with like-minded thinkers

Our trips are known for the friendships that are made! None of us self-proclaimed TUTTERS are into the idea of "group travel" – the whole notion speaks of compromise, routine and boredom, hardly adjectives for the life adventurers that we are! Yet something magical happens when like-minded thinkers embark on these trips. Everyone is fully versed in spiritual thinking, personal responsibility, and creating our own realities. Dreams and challenges are shared, illumination is sparked and lives are changed.

Talk one-on-one with Mike

On every trip we take, Mike is a part of the adventure in every way that you are. Whether we’re climbing a mountain, or riding a bus, or eating at a local restaurant, or passing out school supplies to children, Mike is there to facilitate and lead us in the adventure, along with his brother Andy, and our travel agent Christopher. There will be time to talk one-on-one with Mike and Andy, and there will also be time during group workshops to share and ask questions.

Adventure Highlights

We've discovered that one of the best things about these trips is the candidness and connection shared by the group. This is an opportunity for adventurers, like-minded thinkers from around the world, to join together and share the experience of a lifetime. The focus of these adventures is not on Mike, but rather on OURSELVES, our group dynamic, and the adventure at hand. For us, the most important thing is to achieve a sense of comfort from day one; to learn, explore, and discover together. Mike's casual, unplugged workshops will follow suit. We'll start by following a schedule, but if we get inspired or feel pulled in other directions, so be it! Here's some of what we have to look forward to together over the course of this great experience:

  • 9 days in Johannesburg, Cape town, Ngala, and Livingstone (Zambia).
  • Luxury accommodations at the Table Bay Hotel, Ngala Safari
  • Lodge, and the David Lingstone Safari Lodge and Spa.
  • Daily talks with Mike Dooley and TUTTERS about life, dreams, happiness, and the nature of reality.
  • Time for Q&A following each talk to address your specific questions, concerns, dreams, and challenges.
  • Private one-on-one time with Mike Dooley and Andy Dooley (a professional life coach), time permitting.
  • Day and nighttime game drives at the Ngala Safari Lodge, South Africa’s most famous game-viewing destination and Africa’s second-largest reserve.
  • A canoe safari through the narrow channels of the Zambezi River, one of Africa’s most enchanting rivers.
  • A walking tour of the iconic Victoria Falls in Zambia, the largest waterfall in the world and one of the Seven Natural Wonders.
  • A trip up Table Mountain (worth a Google!) via cable car and a ride on the Flying Dutchman funicular.
  • A visit to the African penguin colony at Boulders Beach (now an endangered species, there are only 26,000 breeding pairs left in the whole world).
  • A ferry ride to the former maximum-security jail on Robben Island (now a World Heritage site) where prisoners such as Nelson Mandela and Robert Sibukwe developed their ideas for a post-apartheid South Africa.

Interesting Facts

  • South Africa’s wildlife is legendary and offers Africa’s most frequent encounters with the elusive leopard, as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra, antelope and more than 500 bird species.
  • South Africa has Africa’s largest economy, dominated by mineral extraction and agriculture, yet great disparities in income equality persist.

We’ll stop for lunch along the way and then visit the African penguin colony at Boulders Beach in the afternoon.

DAY 3: AUGUST 30, 2017

ROBBEN ISLAND

Breakfast is included at leisure in the Atlantic Restaurant.

Robben Island Tour
Robben Island lies 9km from the shores of Cape Town. Once a mark of shame in the history of South Africa, it is now a must stop attraction for visitors and a symbol of triumph over adversity.

After a 30-minute ferry ride, we’ll tour the former maximum-security jail guided by former political prisoners, who draw a vivid picture of life in incarceration. In days gone by its proximity to the mainland made it ideal as a leper colony and place of quarantine. Its notoriety peaked in 1960 when the apartheid government used the newly constructed maximum security section as a political prison. Here leaders of the struggle against racial oppression such as Nelson Mandela and Robert Sibukwe developed their concepts for a post-apartheid South Africa. In recognition, UNESCO's World Heritage Committee marked the island for "triumph of the human spirit' and declared it a World Heritage site in 1999.

After the tour the afternoon is free to shop and explore on your own.

Gold Restaurant
Tonight’s farewell to Cape Town is at a reserved section of GOLD Restaurant. Gold is a vibrant, eclectic Pan-African experience in the heart of Cape Town. It offers a night of opulent feasting with a unique bouquet of live entertainment in a mystical African setting.

Hotel Accommodations

The Table Bay Hotel

Located on Cape Town's Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, this sophisticated Sun International property was opened in 1997 by former South African president, Nelson Mandela. The hotel is an architectural masterpiece, combining Victorian style with maritime design elements. Three buildings with peaked roofs merge to offer lots of vantage points of mountains, wharf and sea. The combination of luxury and location near the waterfront action makes The Table Bay a 5 star choice when in Cape Town.

Ngala Safari Lodge

Ngala (en-yah-la) means “Lion” in the local tribe dialect. The Lodge is strategically placed along an unfenced border of Kruger National Park and a spectacular diversity of wildlife moves through this area. A focus on eco-friendly design and practices make this lodge feel like part of the environment while still maintaining a luxurious feel. Thatched roof cottages dot the grounds and guests may gather in public areas overlooking watering holes where animals congregate. On warmer days, a dip in the swimming pool is in order, while others nap in sun loungers or underneath umbrellas.

The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa

The colonial styled David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa is situated 7 km from Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world and Africa's adventure capital. All rooms overlook the mighty Zambezi from private balconies, and mealtime is a contemporary afro-Arabian experience. An infinity pool overlooks the river for relaxing during the day, and rooms have all the comforts of home.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

BenchMark Travel Services strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance before any TUT trip! Travel insurance offers travelers coverage for unforeseen problems, from a cancelled flight to a serious illness—or in rare cases, even an act of terrorism or the financial default of a travel supplier. If you miss a travel connection, even for reasons beyond your control, you are NOT necessarily protected from financial loss unless you have travel insurance. For example, if you encounter mechanical problems, flight delays, or inclement weather that causes you to miss connections, the airline carrier might re-book you, although in many cases (such as bad weather) it is NOT guaranteed (in which case you may either have to purchase an entirely new round-trip ticket or forego the entire prepaid trip without any reimbursement). Travel insurance can cover new flights or provide trip cancellation coverage (for a covered loss), as well as emergency medical expenses and medical transportation. Travel insurance also provides 24 hour “911” emergency travel service, in case a traveler has to change a flight or a hotel room, in addition to assistance with emergency cash transfers, lost baggage, and pre-trip consultation services (travel advisories, passport requirements, inoculation information, etc.).

HOW TO PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE: You can obtain travel insurance from Travel Guard International*. To view the various policies offered, log onto www.travelguard.com. You will have two options to purchase travel insurance: 1. US residents may call Travel Guard directly at 1-800-549-9037 and Canadian residents may call 1-866-648-8422. 2. Visit Travel Guard’s website at www.TravelGuard.com to process the insurance yourself. In this case you will be asked for a travel agent code, please give Travel Guard the code 00552160 as this code will identify your booking with BenchMark Travel Services. Please be sure to read all policy information thoroughly and note that if you have a pre-existing condition you must apply for the insurance within 14 days of the trip deposit date.

*Please note that Travel Guard insurance is only available to US and Canadian residents at this time. If you live elsewhere, please check for such coverage within your home country from independent providers.
